Abstract

Dance, characterized by expressive and energetic movements, presents challenges for college dancers aiming to master this art while avoiding injuries. This study focuses on movement competency, injury prevention, and performance enhancement, examining dynamic movement in dance among collegiate dancers. Challenges include technical elements of dance and maintaining equilibrium in static and dynamic situations. Further investigation into college dancers dynamic movement is needed despite advancements in understanding. This study analyzes dynamic movement among college student dancers, considering age, gender, and year-level variations. Thirty college dancers from public colleges in the Davao Region participated using a quantitative methodology with a descriptive-comparative design. Data were collected using a modified Dance Functional Outcome Survey and analyzed statistically. Results indicate high levels of dynamic movement in overall performance, with moderate scores in movement quality and dance technique. Significant differences were observed across age groups, genders, and year levels, highlighting the influence of demographic factors on dynamic movement in dance. Recommendations include developing age, gender, and year-level-specific training programs, promoting diversity and inclusion in dance instruction, and supporting further research on demographic factors and dynamic movement in dance. The studys findings can guide future research and interventions to improve dynamic movement among college student dancers, potentially leading to better injury prevention strategies, enhanced performance outcomes, and increased well-being in the dance community.
