Abstract

This study explored the phenomenon of Senior High School students in modular distance learning by examining their lived experiences amidst the pandemic, their struggles and their triumphs, and how they coped with these challenges. Face-to-face interview was done with 20 Senior High School students regarding their experiences in modular distance learning. Using Colaizzis method, findings revealed four major themes: two sides of the coin, uphill battle, get by and get on, and hopeful hearts, along with 19 core ideas and 126 significant statements. The conversational partners lived experiences with modular distance learning provided some implications: noting that different factors caused problems for the students which could affect their academic performance there were also several factors that were influencing their experience which were within the students control and of the faculty self-determination and perception had been proven to be a hindrance to truly show the students maximum performance they should also have to balance work and family, to manage time, and to make personal commitment instructors also should work to establish presence in the absence of physical compresence, work to build intellective relationships with students, and work to create a sense of community and there should be a balance of students and the faculty factors that influence their experiences. As a result, it is recommended that students and instructors should re-consider themselves to accept this type of approach in learning amidst pandemic such that they should also allot enough time and effort to achieve ones goal.
