Abstract
Students enroll in school to earn and develop their innate skills and talents that would be beneficial for them in the future. In developing one?s ability and talent, students should not only focus their attention on the academic aspects of learning but try as well to engage in varied activities that would enable them to grow holistically. Among the extracurricular activities that the school offers to the students are sports activities. The purpose of this study is to seek insights into the Lived Experiences of Softball Athletes of Leyte Normal University. Purposive random sampling was done in the selection of participants. The achievement motivation theory provides a basis for this study. There is a psychological need for success in school, sports, occupation, and other competitive situations. This is a phenomenological study employing Colaizzi?s method of data analysis through semi-structured interviews. The result of this study could provide insights into the lived experiences of softball athletes of Leyte Normal University and their academic performance.
