Abstract

Abstract: To develop bucaal mucoadhesive drug delivery system which retains and diffuses drug for prolong period of time. Flurbiprofen due to its use in elderly patients for the symptoms of joint pain as well as in dental issues, Aim is to facilitate patients by prolonging the delivery of drug substance by formulating mucoadhseive system. Mucoadhesive polymers like HPMC, Sodium carboxy methyl cellulose and carbopol were used to formulate the tablets by using direct compression method. Characterization of the tablets was done to confirm their usability. Results indicate that tablets prepared by employing carbopol depict better mucoadhesive as well as better sustained release buccal mucoadhesive tablets.
