Abstract

ABSTRACT

In adolescent girls problems regarding body shape often occur. Especially adolescent
girls who are obese, they tend to look at their body shape negatively. This study aims
to examine the contribution of self compassion to body dissatisfaction in adolescent
girls who are obese. The respondents of this study were 100 teenage girls aged 13 to

21 years. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Retrieval of data
using a self-compassion scale and Body Uneasiness Test A (BUT A) scale. Data
analysis in this study used a simple regression test. The results of this study indicate
that there is a very significant contribution of self compassion to body dissatisfaction
in adolescent girls who experience obsession. Self compassion as a form of positive
self appreciation will make adolescent girls who are obese able to control their
thoughts, feelings, and behavior to be able to accept the state of their physical form
and love themselves more.
